The Paul and Fred Acoustic Duo on tour.
Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett are guitar players …
In fact they are the guitarists of Little Feat and have been working together as an acoustic duet since 1999, but the story began many years before, 1972 in fact. During the recording of the classic Little Feat “Dixie Chicken” record was when they met. Lowell George, the leader of Little Feat, and Fred Tackett were close friends and Lowell wanted to record Fred’s song “Fool Yourself”, so it was there in clover studios in Hollywood that they began playing music together … over the years and many sessions later Fred became a member of Little Feat when the band reformed in 1987.
Paul Barrere having been a member of Little Feat since that iconic recording in 1972, thought that it was perfect to ask Fred to become the second guitarist of the famed ensemble.… and thus the groovin’ began. Writing and playing together became second nature to the lads … “a lot of little feats songs were written using just two acoustic guitars,” remembers Barrere, “ I had more than one sit down with Lowell and now Fred, just picking acoustic and songs emerge from that”.
Having recorded now two live records “Live From The North Café” on Relix, and “Live In The UK 2008” on Stonehenge Records, a tip of the hat to spinal tap, they just keep rolling along when the spirit moves them, and Little Feat is on break …
Together and separately they have worked and recorded with hundreds of artists. Folks like Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Jack Bruce, Phil Lesh, and the list goes on and on …
Go to the www.PaulandFred.net web site to see what and where the boys will be playing, as Paul is taking time off from the road with Little Feat this year and only doing a few shows with Fred … make sure you catch one when you can, you won’t be sorry you did!!!
